Christal McCrary

Christal McCrary grew up on the central coast of California, graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Geography. She was drawn to courses in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomorphology, and Climatology. After graduating from college, she found her way to the mountains of Utah and Idaho, gaining backcountry and risk management experience through ski touring and whitewater kayaking. Christal has been ski patrolling at Alta Ski Area since 2015. Throughout her career, she has actively pursued more knowledge in snow science, both on the mountain and in the classroom. Christal combines field experience in ski area avalanche mitigation and forecasting with a love of terrain analysis and cartography.
